Dechen London Gets a Makeover

Our London centre has a brand new look. In preparation for the upcoming summer visit of HH Kyabgon Gongma Trichen and HH Kyabgon Gongma Trizen, our sangha came together to create a new vision for the Notting Hill space. Here are the results:

An eye-catching luminescent background, replete with the tri-colour stripe of our Sakya tradition, standing in golden harmony. The task of this revitalisation was of course undertaken not only for the strengthening of the Buddhist community in central London, but also to prepare for the welcome of HH Kyabgon Gongma Trichen and HH Kyabgon Gongma Trizen, the 41st and 43rd throne holders of Sakya. These venerated Lamas, teachers of our own Lama Jampa Thaye, will be visiting London on the 11th and 12th of July, where they will be teaching at Kensington Town Hall.

HH Kyabgon Gongma Trichen will be giving the Manjushri Arapatsana initiation on the afternoon of the 11th. Manjushri is the embodiment of enlightened wisdom, and his meditation is an especially effective way of acquiring a profound understanding of the teaching. On the morning of the 12th the Vajrakilaya Torma empowerment will be bestowed by HH Kyabgon Gongma Trizen. Vajrakilaya embodies the indestructible compassion of the enlightened mind which transcends all negative emotions. The afternoon will conclude with the initiation of Amitayus-Hayagriva. Amitayus is the Buddha of boundless life and wisdom, whose yoga is especially effective for long life and overcoming illness, while Hayagriva signifies protection, and is the wrathful form of Noble Chenrezik.
